  1. Pressure cook toor dal with turmeric and salt until soft.
  2. Mash dal and adjust consistency with water.
  3. Heat ghee, add cumin seeds and dried red chillies.
  4. Add sliced garlic and fry until golden.
  5. Add onion and tomato, cook 3 minutes.
  6. Pour the sizzling tadka over the dal.
  7. Garnish with coriander. Serve with rice or roti.
