  1. Mix puttu flour with salt. Drizzle warm water and rub between palms until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Test: a fistful should just hold together, then crumble when tapped.
  3. Layer the puttu maker: coconut, flour, coconut, flour — ending with coconut on top.
  4. Steam for 8-10 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Gently push out the cylinder and serve hot with kadala curry, banana, or papadam.
